Certain grasses are the Natural, Traditional, Easy and Good Established source of Essential/Aromatic Oils. They are being grown on wide range of soil type and Climatic conditions and also having good commercial viability. Demand of these oils is quite good in National and International markets for Perfumery, Flavor, Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical industry. These grasses are perennial, having the commercial life of 5 to 6 years. These grasses can be grown easily and Oil can be extracted through a simple Distillation process. The major chemical compounds are Geraniol and Citral. Pacific Agro, having 18 years of experience, based at Nagpur Maharashtra, working on these project in association with CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) - IIIM (Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine), Jammu Govt. of India and having their Researched & Developed varieties (RRL-CN-5, Himroja – CK-10, Tawiroja all Geraniol reach and Krishna, Kalam- CPK-F2-38 & CKP-25 Citral reach) of Aromatic grass on our farm.

Pacific Agro, Nagpur was invited by CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, Govt. of India for the Presentation on “Future & Scope” of Aromatic grass oil project at International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 21 Nov, 2016, here an Agreement (MOU) between Pacific Agro, Nagpur and CSIR-IIIM, Jammu was also signed for the Transfer of Technology and Marketing support.
The Seminar was organized on 14 October 2015 at CSIR- NEERI, Nagpur. The Seminar was organized by Pacific Agro, Nagpur in Association with CSIR- IIIM (Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine), Jammu.
Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director, CSIR, IIIM, Jammu honored the program as Chief Guest and Dr. Satish R Wate, Director, CSIR- NEERI, Nagpur was Special Guest. Dr. Suresh Chandra, Chief Scientist, CSIR- IIIM, Jammu, Dr. A K Shahi, Consultant, CSIR- IIIM, Jammu and Dr. Vilas Sapkal, former Vice Chancellor, RSTM Nagpur University were the key Speaker. Seminar was attended by more than 85 delegates from 7 states; it was an interactive seminar as Question Answer session took more than one hour and it was continued during lunch and even on field visit also. During the session live Demo of oil distillation was given. Along with all the delegates Dr. Ram Vishwakarma , Dr. Satish R Wate, Dr. Suresh Chandra, and Dr. A K Shahi visited the plantation of RRL-CN-5 grass farm. Dr. Ram Vishwakarma and Dr. Suresh Chandra observed that the growth and other parameters of the grass were best and declared the suitability for commercial cultivation on large scale.
AAIC- 2016, Asian Aroma Ingredients Congress & Expo, the International Conference on Essential/Aromatic Oils held at Hotel Leela Ambience in New Delhi on 22, 23 & 24 Apr 2016. Organized by Essential Oil Association of India, which was attended by Pacific Agro, Nagpur.
The Meet was attended by more than 700 delegates including more than 150 foreign delegates from 9 countries. The conference was addressed by prominent faculties (from India & Abroad) of this field and the delegates include Cultivators / Growers, Processors, Traders, Exporters, Researchers and End users (Industries) of theses oils. It was perfect platform for interaction among all above category of delegates.
Conclusion - Good income can be generated (Rs.30,000 to 80,000/acre yearly) from Aromatic grasses on all type of soils.
Essential oil Production has decreased in last two years and Demand has increased. The whole World is expecting the production of these oils from India because we have the “Potential and Capacity” to cater the need. Though Synthetic substitute are available but Fortunately the trend is Shifting towards “Naturals”. It means “Opportunity is Waiting” we must grab it.

First half session was conducted at Auditorium of CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur and Second half session after lunch was held at our Research and Information Centre, Bela, Tq. Umred, Nagpur. More than 150 delegate participated and visited our farm along with the team of scientist from CSIR-IIIM, Jammu.Here all the practical aspect of the project was demonstrated.
Aromatic grass Cultivation, Processing & Marketing. 2nd Oct, 2016 at Nagpur, Maharashtra. This was our 3rd National Seminar, graced by more than 320 delegates from 13 states of India. First half session was conducted at Shivaji Science College, Nagpur and second half session was conducted on Pacific Agro’s farm at Bela where practical demonstration was given on Cultivation (Seed treatment, Sowing/planting), Harvesting of the grass and live distillation process of Aromatic grass. 5 research varieties of Aromatic grass viz. Himroja, Tawiroja, RRL-CN-5 (Geraniol reach Roshagrass varieties ) and Kalam & CKP-25 (Citrall reach Lemongrass variety) which are developed by CSIR-IIIM, Jammu were introduced to the delegates. The delegates were quite satisfied with practical approach to this “Aromatic Oil Project” and demanded to organize such type of Seminar in their respective states.
